SALISBURY — The family of a 24-year-old Salisbury man killed in a car crash in Harnett County on Jan. 9 remember Manuel “Manny” Garcia as “so vibrant, really the happiest young man you could hope to meet,” according to his sister, Maria Garcia.

Maria, on behalf of their family, has established a fundraiser to help cover the cost of memorial services.

Manny Garcia was driving down U.S. 421 last Thursday morning when his car was hit head on by David Navarros Siordia, 55. The accident was reported just after 11 a.m. according to N.C. State Highway Patrol. Both men died in the crash.

In a GoFundMe post, Maria Garcia said the family is looking for help covering the cost of the memorial/funeral for her brother, but noted any help, “whether it be prayers, donations or phone calls” is appreciated.

“He was the most kindhearted individual you‘ll ever meet,” Maria said of her brother. “Full of life with beautiful aspirations. He was devoted to his family, girlfriend and friends with unconditional love. He was hardworking and always willing to help, and over and over again, when people have called with condolences, they have mentioned his smile. That smile was the way his happiness showed.”
Manny is survived by his mother, Maria Lopez and father, Manuel Garcia, his siblings Jose, Maria, Elizabeth, Alex and Nicole and his girlfriend, Brissa Urbina-Chavez.
A vigil will be held this Thursday, January 16 at Summersett Funeral Home on West Innes Street from 6-7:30 p.m. and funeral services, including a viewing, will be held Friday, January 17 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Lumen Christi Lane, Salisbury. Viewing hours are 10-11 a.m. with a service at 11 a.m. and burial following.
