Everyone receives a voter registration card mailed to them after their registration form is processed. It is a white postcard with “Official Election Mail” on the outside.
If the information is correct on the registration card, the voter simply keeps the card as a record of their registration. If changes are needed the voter can make the corrections and return the card to our office. This is only one of several types of mailings we send out throughout the year. Do not disregard or throw away mailings that you receive with this emblem printed on it. This logo means that you need to look at what we are sending and review your voter information.
This week we mailed out confirmation postcards. This mailing went out to over 8,000 voters. Cards were only sent to Rowan County residents that we have not had contact with or have not voted for two congressional general elections. These cards are mailed to the voter’s address we have on file. If you receive a postcard open it, read over the requested information, provide updated information, sign it and return it to our office. Cards can be brought back to our office in person or mailed back. The return mailing does not require postage.
If you receive a confirmation card in the mail action is required. Be sure to follow the instructions and complete the card. Don’t forget to sign it at the bottom. We cannot process cards that do not have a signature from the voter. Make sure to do this promptly. Cards need to be received and processed within 30 days. Voters who do not return the cards will have their registration record changed to “Inactive Status.” Voters can return to “Active Status” if we hear from them, or they vote within the next two years.
