College women’s basketball: Claflin rallies to beat Blue Bears

SALISBURY — Nyra Morris scored 29 points as Claflin’s women’s basketball team put together a big fourth quarter and won 65-61 at Livingstone’s New Trent Gym on Thursday.
Claflin (8-6, 4-3) scored 35 points off Livingstone turnovers in the CIAA contest.
Claflin shot 36 percent, but made seven 3-pointers.
Livingstone got another big effort from Morgan Kelson. She had 14 points and 14 rebounds. Jay’La Williams scored 13.
The Blue Bears (4-13, 2-5) shot 34 percent and made only four of 20 3-point attempts.
Livingstone led 32-30 at halftime and took a 51-45 lead to the final 10 minutes. The Blue Bears peaked with an eight-point lead with 9:47 remaining, but couldn’t hold off Claflin’s finishing kick.
