CONCORD — East Rowan took a 62-28 licking at Concord in South Piedmont Conference action.
Playing for the third night in a row against a quicker and more experienced team, the Mustangs had little left in the tank to deal with the Spiders and managed to score only 11 points in the first half.
It was 43-11 at the break.
“We couldn’t buy a bucket and Concord shot 3-pointers a whole lot better than they did when they lost to Central Cabarrus on Tuesday,” East coach Trey Ledbetter said.
Concord (11-6, 6-3) was 3-for-21 against Central Cabarrus from the 3-point line, but was 6-for-20 against East. Concord got three 3-pointers each from Ty Rushmeyer and Gabe Stafford.
Rushmeyer finished with 21 points. Jeydan Beyan scored 12.
Brody Thomas, Logan Bradley and Jaden Eudy made 3-pointers for the Mustangs (1-15, 1-8). Thomas led East’s scoring with nine points.
The Mustangs played without Aiden Lino and Jude Raiti (flu), lost Jaden Reid mid-game to sickness and lost Corbin Krider to an ankle injury. Krider had led East’s effort on Thursday in a loss to North Rowan.
The 28 points matched the season low for the Mustangs. They lost 53-28 to Northwest Cabarrus.
“We knew this would be a tough week — Robinson, North Rowan, Concord,” Ledbetter said. “But we’ll get to the other side of it, and we’ll be better for having played these games.”
East Rowan 7 4 8 9 — 28
Concord 25 18 11 8 — 62
EAST scoring — Thomas 9, Eudy 5, Ailshie 5, Bradley 4, Lyons 4, Shive 1.

HUNTERSVILLE — The dust hadn’t settled from Thursday’s exciting win against Northwest Cabarrus when Carson head coach started worrying about Lake Norman Charter.
Lake Norman Charter, Perry insisted, was way better than its record, way better than anyone was giving the Knights credit for being.
Perry was proven correct on Friday. There was reason to be worried. Carson didn’t do much right, Lake Norman Charter didn’t do much wrong, and the Knights, who scored 44 in the second half, blistered the Cougars 74-53, The Knights (5-8, 4-5) emphatically avenged an 86-62 loss in China Grove early in the season.
Collin McConneyhead scored 20 for the Knights. Major Leak had 19.
“We had a bad night and they beat us in every area, coaching included,” Perry said.
Jonah Drye played through some sickness and scored 11 in the first half, but didn’t have anything left for the second half.
Drye is just one of Carson’s four big scorers, but none of them had a big night.
CP Perry scored 12 points for the Cougars (11-6, 5-4) . Drew Neve had 11, while Jacob Mills scored 10.
Perry, Mills and Drye made 3-pointers in the first quarter, as Carson got off to a good start, but the Cougars started cooling off in the second quarter, and the Knights owned the second half. Carson finished with only six 3-pointers.
Carson played again without Xavier Phillips.
Carson 19 10 16 8 — 53
LNC 16 14 23 21 — 74
CARSON scoring — Perry 12, Drye 11, Neve 11, Mills 10, Martin 4, Walters 3, Rockwell 2.

MOORESVILLE — Mooresville shot 52 percent from the field, made nine 3-pointers and crushed A.L. Brown 82-44 in a Greater Metro Conference game.
The Blue Devils (15-2, 5-0) led 48-24 at halftime.
Nolan Ericson scored 15, while Dylan Clark had 14 to lead Mooresville.
The Wonders (4-13) fell to 1-5 in league play.
