The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory at 4:47 a.m. on Tuesday valid from 4 p.m. until Wednesday 9 a.m. The advisory is for Elbert, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, York, Abbeville, Laurens, Chester and Greenwood counties.

The NWS says, “Total snow accumulations up to 2 inches.”

“The snowfall will create slippery and snow covered roadways. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes,” adds the NWS. “Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation. Slow down and use caution while traveling. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow, sleet, or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.”
