Special weather statement affecting central North Carolina until Wednesday midday

On Wednesday at 9:01 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement in effect until 12:15 p.m. The alert is for Greater Oconee, Southern Greenville and Southern Spartanburg as well as Habersham, Stephens, Franklin, Hart, Elbert, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, York, Anderson, Abbeville, Laurens, Chester and Greenwood counties.

“Light snow that fell along and south of the I-85 corridor could continue to impact roads this morning. Patchy slick spots could make untreated roads hazardous, especially as temperatures are slow to warm. If traveling across the area, slow down and allow for plenty of space between other vehicles,” says the NWS.
