Due to inclement weather on Jan. 21, several community events were forced to be postponed.

One of those was the opportunity to celebrate the National Day of Racial Healing, which was to be held at the Rowan Public Library main branch with Michelle Strong, founder and president of EYES, Embrace Your Elephant Scripturally, serving as the guest speaker.

As shared on their website, the EYES Journey invites us to pause and “brings together faith communities to address the elephant in the room…racism, from the lens of God’s Word. With the realization that racism births silence, assumptions and division, our hope is to build authentic communities through courageous and vulnerable conversations.

Strong said they anticipate having the event in February and are looking to keep it on a Tuesday at the same time from 6-8 p.m. at the library and will share additional details as plans are confirmed.
