KANNAPOLIS — A seven-year old girl has died after accidentally being shot by a sibling on Thursday.

Police were initially called to a home in the 400 block of Cabarrus Arms Drive at 7:30 a.m., according to a press release from the city. When they arrived on scene, they found a seven-year-old girl who had suffered a gunshot wound.

“Tragically, the seven-year-old girl died at the scene,” wrote Kannapolis Director of Communications Annette Privette Keller in the release.

Police investigated the incident and found that the girl was accidentally shot by a sibling, according to the release.

The city stated in the release that no further information will be released at this time.
