NORWOOD — Allanah McArthur had 20 points, 11 rebounds and eight steals as North Rowan cruised to a 62-44 non-conference win at South Stanly on Saturday.
McArthur made four 3-pointers and tied her career high for points.
North jumped on the winless Bulls 9-0 right away and was never seriously challenged. Dasia Elder scored seven of her 18 points in the first quarter to get the Cavaliers started.
Elder, who had seven rebounds, and McArthur scored seven each in the second quarter for a 30-15 halftime lead.
A technical foul on the Cavaliers early in the second half — Za’Kiya Oglesby blocked a shot, was whistled for a foul and reacted with dismay — enabled South Stanly (0-13) to make free throws to get back to 30-18, but that was as close as it got. Krisstyle Stockton, who double-doubled with 10 points and 10 rebounds, scored to start a North run, and the Cavaliers were in command 49-27 after three quarters.
McArthur had a huge fourth quarter as the Cavaliers (4-10) put the game away.
Essence Robinson made two 3-pointers for North.
Kanya Cowan had nine steals. North’s aggressive defense led to a lot of easy offense.

South Stanly 8 7 12 17 — 44
