Sheriff's Office charges two Rowan men with possession of numbers tickets and operating a game of chance

Two Rowan County men have been cited for operating ticket houses. Authorities seized gambling paraphernalia and cash.
Rowan County Sheriff’s investigators charged Douglas William Towell, 61, of 924 S. Fulton St., Salisbury, and Tracy Brooks Eagle, 65, of 3215 Daugherty Road, China Grove, with possession of numbers tickets and operating a game of chance.
On Wednesday, investigators executed a search warrant at 5315 S. Main St., Salisbury. During this search, numerous items of gambling paraphernalia, including pull tickets and tip boards, were seized along with $803.
Towell, the operator of the business, was issued a citation. His court date is Aug. 13.
On Wednesday, investigators served a search warrant at 2875 China Grove Road, China Grove. Numerous items of gambling paraphernalia were seized at that location along with $1,695 in cash. Investigators also seized a Mossberg 12-gauge shotgun with pistol grip from behind the counter in the business.
Eagle, the operator of that business, was also issued a citation. His court date is Aug. 13.
The two received citations and were released.
