DePaul scholarship
Justin Micheal Faggart, who plans to enter the DePaul University College of Law Center for Intellectual Property Law and Information Technology in August, has been awarded a $36,000 merit scholarship based on his academic success.
In addition, he has been accepted into the school’s Intellectual Property Legal Analysis Research and Communication Program. Admission to the section is highly competitive.
Faggart, a graduate of Salisbury High School and Appalachian State University, is the son of Micheal and Regina Faggart of Salisbury.

Leadership Academy
MOCKSVILLE รณ A total of 41 Davie County students in grades 7-9 completed the 2008 Davie Student Leadership Academy on the Davie Campus of Davidson County Community College June 16-20.
The academy was again sponsored by EMBARQ, Comfort Bilt, BB&T, Ingersoll Rand, Funder America and Wal-Mart. It promotes leadership and responsibility in the classroom and community.
Participants must have recommendations from a school teacher, counselor or principal to apply.

HOBY seminar
Mary Allison Horton of Cleveland recently attended the N.C. Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar at N.C. State University in Raleigh.
Horton represented West Rowan High School at the seminar for more than 200 high school sophomores from across the state.
The select group interacted with leaders in business, government, education and professions in discussions on present and future issues. The goal is to provide a stimulating forum for learning about critical issues while broadening an understanding of leadership potential and quest for self-development.
Participants are also challenged to perform at least 100 hours of community service in their home communities within the 12 months following the seminar.
