Magazine readers pick Bob Timberlake, gallery for honors

LEXINGTON ó Bob Timberlake was honored as favorite mountain artist and his gallery in Blowing Rock was listed as the best place to go in the July/August issue of Blue Ridge Country magazine.
Readers voted as part of the magazine’s 20th anniversary celebration.
Timberlake, an internationally known realist painter from Lexington, began painting professionally in 1970 at the encouragement of Andrew Wyeth. His work is best known for its intricate attention to color and detail. His depiction of the simple life of his native North Carolina home has endeared his work to millions of admirers around the world.
Blue Ridge Country magazine lets readers vote on their favorite places to eat, overnight, hike, bike, camp, wildlife watch and more every five years.
Timberlake still lives in his boyhood home of Lexington, where he continues to pursue dual careers as an artist and designer.
