Ashley Myers of Rowan County recently attended the Institute for Future Agricultural Leaders at N.C. State University in Raleigh.
The event was sponsored by the N.C. Farm Bureau Federation. Participants are selected to attend by a rigorous application process.
During the week-long institute, they tour the facilities in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and meet with students and faculty to discuss current issues in the food, fiber and natural resources industries.
Each day ended with special leadership development sessions that focused on effective communication, personal and professional goal-setting, service learning and career planning. A service learning project for Raleigh Parks and Recreation at Horseshoe Farm Park in Wake County was another highlight.
