UNC-Chapel Hill grad
Sam Wineka graduated May 11 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a bachelor of arts degree in journalism and mass communication.
Wineka received two scholarships from the UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the Ed Jackson International Travel Scholarship and the Knight Distinguished Scholarship. He also completed a Dow Jones Newspaper Fund Internship in sports copy editing.
This summer, he is working on the sports editing desk at the Hartford Courant in Connecticut. A 2004 graduate of West Rowan High School, he is the son of Mark and Lindsay Wineka of Salisbury.
Furman graduates
Two Salisbury students graduated May 31 from Furman University in Greenville, S.C.
They are Katharine A. Doran, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Doran, and Kathryn G. Nolan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nolan.
Samford graduate
Kimberly Diane Sanders graduated May 17 from Samford University’s CumberlandSchool of Law in Birmingham, Ala.
She received a juris doctor degree.
