Boy Scout Troop 401 holds Court of Honor,

Boy Scout Troop 401, sponsored by Sacred Heart Catholic Church, held its annual pool party and Court of Honor on May 25.
The following merit badges were presented: Sam Boyd, Art, Archery, Astronomy, Athletics, Cooking, Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Geology, Rifle Shooting, Shotgun shooting, Swimming; Dylan Maher, Sports; Eric Maurer, Camping, Cooking, Whitewater.
Ranks earned included 2nd Class, Matt Gannon, Dylan Maher, Joe Rapp; 1st Class, Matt Gannon, Dylan Maher, Joe Rapp.Kurt Stebe was recognized for earning the Bronze Eagle Palm. The Bronze Eagle Palm represents earning five merit badges past the 21 required for the Eagle Award. He also was recognized for becoming a brotherhood member of the Itibapishe Iti Hollo Order of the Arrow Lodge.
Tim Smith was presented with the National Scoutmaster Award of Merit and Scout Leader’s Training Award.
James K Denaux was recognized for being a leader with the troop for 35 years.
The Henry Fairley Award for Scout Excellence, one of the Troop’s most distinguished awards, went to Joe Rapp. Rapp was recognized for completing 1,000 hours of community service and for living the ideals of Scouting in his daily life.
The James K Denaux Legacy Award, the other Troop’s most distinguished award, went to Glenn Stebe. Stebe was recognized for giving exceptional service to the troop as an Assistant Scoutmaster. He was also recognized for all the presentations he has given over the years to enhance the quality of the Scouting program.
In 52 years, the troop has earned 2,938 merit badges and elected a total of 39 people to the Itibapishe Iti Hollo Order of the Arrow Lodge. All 39 became Ordeal members, 10 became Brotherhood members, and four had the Vigil Honor bestowed on them.
