Education: J.C. Price graduates

J.C. Price scholarshipsThe J.C. Price High School Alumni Scholarship Program has awarded six scholarships to students in its Salisbury, Washington, Ohio, Charlotte and Georgia chapters for the 2008-09 academic year.
The scholarships, valued at $1,000 each, will be presented at the June 21 reunion in Salisbury. Recipients are:
– Jolessa Wilkes, a Salisbury High School graduate and daughter of Rhonda Wilkes of Salisbury. She is a member of the Black History Club and Honor All. She plans to study nursing at Winston-Salem State University.
– Lloyd H. Leach, a graduate of North Iredell High School and son of Mr. and Mrs. William Leach of Statesville. He was senior class vice president and played football. He has also received a football scholarship at N.C. Central University in Durham.
– Nickola Bradshaw, a Salisbury High School graduate and daughter of Gloria Bradshaw of Salisbury. A member of the Black History Club, she plans to study business education at either Kings College or Winston-Salem State University.
– Jamese Young, a graduate of South Cobb High School in Austell, Ga., and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Young of Austell, Ga. She was a member of the FGA Fellowship and School Leadership Club and attended the Youth Congress Conference in Washington, D.C. She plans to study communication at Tennessee State University.
– Quoneika Nisha Josey, a graduate of East Columbus High School in Lake Waccamaw and daughter of Victoria Jacobs of Bolton. She participated in band and track and was an honor roll student. She plans to study music at Florida A&M University.
– Tara Charon Scott, a graduate of Solon High School in Solon, Ohio, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terence L. Scott of Solon. A member of the student council, she lettered in cross country and was a member of SADD. She plans to attend Grambling University.
