Several Salisbury children are the stars in a new educational DVD in the Witty Bit World series of children’s educational products.
Created by local pediatrician Jennifer Hudson of Salisbury Pediatric Associates, Witty Bit World products teach letter recognition, phonics and life lessons.
The one-hour video launched this spring includes appearances by Roshen Amin; Julia, Kayla and Vance Honeycutt; Audrey, Briggs and Maria Hudson; Mitch and Morgan Jeter; Marissa and Sharmi Patel; Emma Shue; Haley Sims; Sara Elaine Thompson; Jackson Walker; Kariana Williams; Alex, Ashley and John Yang.
The DVD is available at Peekaboo and Just the Thing in Salisbury, or online at www.wittybitworld.com. So far, Witty Bit World products have become a teaching tool in day-care facilities, preschools, and Head Start programs, as well as in the home.
The educational concept of Witty Bit World is based on studies by children’s research organizations that have indicated children are more likely to retain information when there is a personality reference associated with the information. For example, a greater percentage of children are able to recognize and recite characters of children’s programs, logos of products and names for objects, but are less likely to recognize the characters of the alphabet, especially lower-case letters, numbers and colors.
