The National Weather Service severe thunderstorm warning for Rowan County has been extended to 5:15 p.m. A severe storm is moving across the county with frequent lightning and possible hail.
Duke Energy reports 1,225 power outages in Rowan County and 773 in Iredell at this hour.
A caller from Woodleaf-Barber Road reported the storm tore down every tree in her yard, a barn and other outbuildings.
Sue Wagner, 2540 Woodleaf-Barber Road, said “We’ve got stuff all over” the yard. She was sure a small twister must have hit. She also reported nickel-sized hail, starting around 4:15 p.m.
