KANNAPOLIS ó Kannapolis police detectives have charged two teenagers with robbing delivery drivers on three consecutive nights after calling the drivers to the same apartment complex.
One of the teens, Marvyn Adam Clayton, lived near the Oakcrest Apartments complex, where the robberies occurred on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
Clayton, 18, of 1551 Hammock Lane, and Theodore Tyrone Blackwelder, 17, 729 Malvern Drive, Concord, have each been charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of simple affray.
Both are being held this morning under $70,000 bond in the Cabarrus County Jail.
Hammock Lane is a short, dead-end road off Concord Lake Road south of Dale Earnhardt Road.
According to Kannapolis police, the first robbery occurred about 10:15 p.m. Friday after a Dominos Pizza employee was called to deliver an order in the 1700 block of Hammock Lane. When the driver arrived, “at least” two men carrying handguns approached and demanded money and property.
The second robbery occurred about 11:20 p.m. Saturday when an employee of Wing Zone was making a delivery in the same block of Hammock Lane. The employee reported two men approached carrying handguns and demanded money and the food items. They got both.
The third robbery occurred very early Monday, about 2:50 a.m., when an employee of TJ’s Taxi Service was dispatched to the 1700 block of Hammock Lane.
As the driver entered the apartment complex, three men entered his cab. At least two of the suspects then pulled out a handgun and demanded money. The cab driver gave them his money.
Detective Lt. Ken Jackson said the investigation is continuing.
