ENOCHVILLE ó A convenience store clerk turned the tables on a robber this morning, firing shots at the suspect with the man’s own gun as he ran out of the store.
The man had walked into Express Mart at 2720 W. “C” St. around 5:30 this morning with a handgun and demanded money.
Lt. Terry Agner of the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office said the clerk gave the suspect small bills. When the robber put his gun on the counter to look inside the money bag, the clerk grabbed the gun and fired at the suspect, who ran from the store and into a waiting car.
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a black man who is described as tall and slender. He was wearing a black ski mask, blue sweater and khaki shorts.
He got into a small black car.
Anyone with information is asked to call Salisbury-Rowan Crime Stoppers at 866-639-5245 or the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office at 704-216-8668.
