The Humane Society of Rowan County is collecting items for its annual spring yard sale to be held at Shananagan’s Irish Pub, 612 S. Main St. 8 a.m.-1 p.m. May 31.
People wishing to donate items should call 704-636-5700 and press 9 to leave a message. Pick-up service is available. A tax-deductible receipt will be provided upon request.
A bake sale will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. today at Variety Produce Market, 415 W. Main St., Rockwell, featuring home-baked goods and specialty desserts from individuals and area restaurants and businesses. Proceeds from both events will be used to pay medical expenses for animals rescued by the society.
During the past year, the society has helped more than 1,200 cats and dogs through its various services, including rescue, food distribution and spay/neuter programs. Cats, dogs, kittens and puppies are available for adoption and may be seen by contacting the society office or a member. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
