Woman charged in Concord bank robbery

CONCORD ó A homeless Concord woman has been arrested in the Monday robbery of First Charter Bank at 871 N. Church St.
Mandy Laura Moretz, 31, confessed to Concord Police that she robbed the bank because she is unemployed and has a substance abuse problem.
Her arrest came just three hours after the robbery. An off-duty Concord officer spotted the suspect at a local restaurant about a mile from the bank. The officer knew she was a suspect and contacted on-duty officers to assist in capturing her around 7:43 p.m.
Officers have recovered the stolen money. Moretz is charged with one count of common law robbery. Her bond is set at $30,000 and her first appearance in a Cabarrus County Courtroom will be today.
