LINCOLNTON ó A nonprofit Christian mission group will once again offer services to the elderly, poor, disabled and others in need throughout June and July.Carolina Cross Connection wants to hear from people who need help as well as others willing to donate supplies, such as lumber and paint, for the youth work projects.Started in 1988, Carolina Cross Connection expects to bring in more than 1,400 volunteers to help 800 families in 22 counties this summer.
In recent years, one group of youth workers and their adult leaders have worked on projects in Rowan, Stanly, Cabarrus and Davidson counties while based at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer.
The organization offers light construction, interior and exterior painting, yard work and general house cleaning free of charge. The organization asks homeowners to contribute as much as possible to expenses, especially building materials, thought it’s not a requirement.
“The staff and participant of Carolina Cross Connection look forward to spending the summer in western North Carolina, but they need some folks to put them to work,” Administrator Adam Cline said in a press release. “Our volunteers strive to do more than just work,” to also make people’s lives and the community better.To inquire about receiving help or providing a donation of supplies or money, call the summer staff at 704-982-8946.
