Carson’s soccer program (4-0) is ranked No. 1 in 3A by EuroScoreboard.
Carson owns wins against Marvin Ridge, South Iredell, Lake Norman and Cox Mill and rolled 8-0 against West Rowan on Tuesday.
The Cougars (5-0, 2-0 SPC) got three goals from Brandon Flores and two from Raunel Vasquez. Khalid Myers, Colton Correll and Yoris Venegas added a goal each.
Flores scored three consecutive goals for a 5-0 halftime lead.
Vasquez, Myers and Cesar Reyes had assists.
Carson is home on Thursday against Hickory Ridge.

The Hornets lost 4-1 to Statesville on Tuesday in a wild game filled with momentum changes.
Statesville scored two goals early.
Salisbury keeper Arnold Lezama injured his shoulder on the first goal but stayed in.
Hector Salinas scored for the Hornets, with Landon Goodman assisting, with 18 minutes left in the first half, but Salisbury couldn’t capitalize on other good chances.
Just past the halfway mark of the second half, a deflected shot found the back of the net for a 3-1 Statesville lead.
“That really took the wind out of our sails,” Salisbury coach Matt Parrish said.
Six minutes later, while corraling a ball in his box, Lezama was crashed into by two Statesville players and went down hard.
“EMTs and trainers on site speculated that he suffered a dislocated shoulder,” Parrish said. “Before we could get him off of the field lightning came and the match was halted with seven minutes left.”
The status of Lezama is uncertain.
Salisbury (2-3) plays South Rowan at home on Thursday at 6 p.m.
North Rowan is ranked fourth in the AP poll that was released on Tuesday.
North Rowan hosts Statesville, the ninth-ranked team in 3A, on Friday.
Salisbury defeated East Davidson 9-0 in a home CCC match on Tuesday.
Salisbury’s returning trio of Kayla Honeycutt, Kathryn Rusher and Grace Steinman played outstanding tennis against the Golden Eagles, winning 6-0, 6-0.
Emily Capito won 6-1 6-0, while Maria Capito and Julia Honeycutt won by scores of 6-0 6-0.
In doubles, the teams of Kayla Honeycutt-Maria Capito, Rusher-Steinman and Emily Capito-Julia Honeycutt all won 8-0.
Salisbury hosts Lexington in the CCC on Wednesday, before traveling to 4A power Charlotte Catholic on Thursday.
Two local sisters made the Junior AAU National Karate Team
Karate was a contender this past year to be added to the 2020 Olympic Games, but didn’t get the necessary votes. This left those with Olympic karate dreams aiming instead for a spot on the National Karate Team. The two national team bodies are the NKF and AAU National and Junior National teams.
Both travel internationally and represent the United States in events like the Pan-American Games (held in Peru this week and represented by the NKF Junior National Team).
For Kayleigh and Sidney Hare, their goals are to be at the top of their sport, both competing in kumite (sparring), kata, short and long weapons. Athletes are eligible to earn spots on the AAU Jr. National Karate team from 10-20 years old, with older athletes representing on the National Karate team.
Kayleigh earned her spot on the team by placing in the top three of elite level 13-year-old athletes at the AAU Nationals held in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
For Sidney, Kayleigh’s 9-year-old sister, making the team was a surprise.
Despite winning state championship titles for kata and kumite in West Virginia and Georgia and becoming the NKF National Champion in kumite in the 9-year-old advanced division, Sidney was not Junior Team eligible in the 9 -year-old division.
With the 9-year-old division at the AAU Nationals smaller than anticipated, divisions were combined and Sidney earned a chance to fight with the 10-year-olds for a Junior National Team spot. Sidney earned gold and joined her sister as a junior team member invited to represent the United States in Poland this fall at the WUKF World Cup.
Join the Salisbury High School girls tennis team at the SHS tennis courts for a free youth clinic this Saturday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. until noon.
Instruction in tennis fundamentals will be provided by the six-time defending 2A state champions.
No previous tennis experience is required. Children who have an interest in playing tennis but have never tried it a re urged to attend.

Wingate’s women’s soccer team is ranked 10th in Division II and opens Thursday at USC Aiken. Mariah Coleman (West Rowan) is a freshman midfielder for the Bulldogs.
The Green Bay Packers have signed former Catawba DB Jumal Rolle to the practice squad. The Packers had waived Rolle on Saturday.
The Charlotte Hornets say rookie forward Noah Vonleh will be out for six to eight weeks after surgery to repair a sports hernia.
Vonleh, the team’s first-round draft pick, had surgery on Tuesday in Charlotte. The team says Vonleh was injured during a recent workout.
Vonleh, the ninth overall pick, was the Big Ten Freshman of the Year last season at Indiana. He averaged 11.3 points, nine rebounds and 1.4 blocks in 26.5 minutes per game.
The Corbin Hills women played in a flighted low gross, low net golf event on Tuesday.
In Flight 1, Becky Isenhour won gross, while Ruth Bowles won net.
In Flight 2, Faye Cline won gross, while Carolynn Ries won net. In Flight 3, Tammi Drew won gross, while Norman Burgess won net. Joy Maughmer won gross in Flight 4, while Betsey Edgeworth was the net winner.
Knox was defeated by Mooresville 7-2 on Tuesday.
Doubles winners for Knox were the teams of Rachel Seifert- Skye Mowery and Anna Woolly-Quinnlan Watson. Knox will play at China Grove on Thursday.
Aimee Cloninger (Carson) had 10 kills and six digs as CVCC swept Rockingham CC on Tuesday.
• Averett’s Nicole Barringer (South Rowan) had 46 assists and nine digs in a win against Emory & Henry.
Lynsey Corriher (South Rowan) had her first three college kills.

North Rowan basketball coaches Andrew Mitchell and Brian Lytton are the club sponsors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at North Rowan.
An important FCA fundraiser is upcoming.
The Harlem Wizards (similar to Harlem Globetrotters) will be entertaining and playing area teachers, principals and alumni from several of the schools in the county. This combined team will be called the Rowan All-Stars. Game day is Sunday, Sept. 21, at the North Rowan Gym. The doors will open at 3 p.m. and the game begins at 4 p.m.
Tickets are available at North Rowan Elementary, North Rowan Middle and North Rowan High and online at www.harlemwizards.com.
Student tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Adult tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Reserved section tickets are available for $20. Also, there are a limited number of courtside seats for $30. The courtside seat will includ a meet and greet with the Wizards beginning at 3 p.m. the day of the event, a Wizard team poster for autographs and a meal voucher for one free meal at the North Rowan Booster Club concession stand.
The concession stand will be selling grilled hamburgers and hot dogs along with other foods. All money raised by the boosters will benefit the athletic department at North Rowan.
Parking will be $5. All money from parking will go directly to the basketball program.
The FCA Club is currently organizing a fall food drive. The club members will also be participating in other service type projects within the county throughout the school year.
