A man died about 9:45 a.m. this morning when his motorcycle struck a utility pole on Mahaley Avenue in front of Westview Court Apartment Homes.
The apartment complex sits at the southwest corner of Mahaley Avenue and Park Road West. Knox Middle and Overton Elementary schools are located on Park Road West.
The identity of the driver or possible cause of the accident has not been released.

Police have identified the motorcyclist as Daniel Patrick Holmes, 52, of Salisbury. Speed was a factor, alcohol was not.
