ROCKWELL ó The Rockwell Police are investigating a rash of recent car break-ins this week.
The thieves targeted only vehicles that homeowners left unlocked.
These thefts occurred between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday in the 200 block of Gold Hill Avenue, 600 block of Lake Drive, 200 block of Depot Street and on Lentz Street, Briarcliff and Cal Miller roads and Woodland Drive, according to a statement from the department.
Rockwell Police Chief Hugh Bost said all items were taken from unlocked vehicles parked at or near residences.
Items taken included: numerous music CDs, bookbags, a briefcase, cell phones, MP3 players, Sirius Satellite Radio, a saw, a woman’s purse, golf clubs, 10-gauge single-shot shotgun, a portable GPS system, laptop computer, power converter and loose change.
“We are putting more of an emphasis on these areas. We normally work the highways and business areas at night for regular patrol,” he said.
Bost reminds residents to lock their vehicles and take valuables in their homes with them.
Bost asks anyone who might have seen suspicious activity or with information about the break-ins to call the Rockwell Police Department at 704-279-3420.
