Clinton campaign chairman to stop in Salisbury today

The head of the Hillary Clinton for President organization will be in Salisbury today as part of a campaign to encourage early voting.
Terry McAuliffe, national chairman of the the Clinton campaign, is scheduled to be at the Rowan County Board of Elections Office at 11:45 a.m. The office is located on the first floor of the County Administrative Offices at 130 W. Innes St.McAuliffe served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2001to 2005.
McAuliffe will be stopping at six early voting locations in the Piedmont to kick off North Carolina’s early voting period.
One-stop voting for the May 6 primary begins today statewide. Rowan voters may cast ballots at the main office or at the East and South branch libraries.
McAuliffe has also scheduled stops at the Cabarrus County Elections Office, 53 Corban Ave., SE, Concord, at 11:45 a.m., and the Davie County Elections Office, 161 Poplar St., Mocksville, at 2:15 p.m.
Senator Clinton will return to North Carolina on Friday for an event with noted poet and Wake Forest professor Dr. Maya Angelou at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem.
The event is free and open to the public. Doors of Wake Forest’s Wait Chapel open at 4 p.m., with the event beginning at 6 p.m.
