Taste of Lexington continues

The Taste of Lexington continues this week.
– Friday, April 18 ó Night of Carolina Blues, Edward C. Smith Civic Center Ballroom, 217 S. Main St. Time: 7-10 p.m. Tickets are $10.
Pat “Mama Blues” Cohen will be performing.
There will be selected items for a silent auction, and the winner of the 3rd Annual Taste of Lexington Award will be announced.
– Saturday, April 19 ó Taste of Lexington Wine and Jazz Festival, Taste of Lexington Festival Park (behind the Civic Center use either East 2nd or 3rd Aves.)
Jazz Acts: Sweet Dreams, Sabra Callas, Jazz Tracks, Joe Robinson.
There are nine wineries that will be on hand for the tasting, offering wines from the mountains to the Carolina Coastal Plain. Time: Noon- 6 p.m.
Tickets are $20, tasting, $10, general admission. Bring your chairs.
– Sunday, April 20 ó The Spirit Song Series continues with “Gullah Spiritual.” It will be the third of the four-part series. This event will be at the historic St. Stephen United Methodist Church on the corner of East 1st and Salisbury streets. The Magnolia Singers from Charleston will share their Gullah culture and heritage from the Carolina coast (S.C. lowcountry). Time for this event is 3-4:30 p.m. Admission is free, but donations and food and supplies for the Pastors Pantry is encouraged.
These events are all part of the 2008 Taste of Lexington. Proceeds raised throughout the month go to support very worthy organizations that serve all of Davidson County ó Davidson County Cancer Services and Pastors Pantry, for example.
