Your attention, please. If you’re the woman from Charleston who went to the “Leatherheads” press conference last week and found that opera glove in the pocket of your purple windbreaker, would you please contact Tara Lowrance?
She’d like her glove back.
“It’s kind of embarrassing,” Lowrance admits.
Lowrance, who lives in Salisbury, was an extra in “Leatherheads,” and came to the depot last Wednesday to meet George Clooney.
She dressed for the event in period clothing ó a sky blue vintage dress and hat, accessorized with full-length opera gloves. She topped off the outfit with a mink stole.
Lowrance and her friend, Susan Thomas of Woodleaf, an extra who also dressed for the occasion, got in line at 7:30 a.m. for the chance to meet Clooney. They were accompanied by Thomas’ sister, Patricia Duff.
The women’s efforts were rewarded.
The actor signed a football, a Time magazine with his likeness on the cover and a banner that Lowrance spent five hours making.
The only trouble was, Lowrance was having problems juggling the football, magazine and magic marker with her gloves on.
So she turned to the lady on her left and asked her to stick one of the gloves in her pocket.
They’d been chatting throughout the morning.
“She was from Charleston,” Lowrance said Monday, “and she was, if I remember correctly, in town visiting friends or family from Salisbury. They were somewhere behind her.”
Because of the crowd, Lowrance couldn’t get to her bags. It didn’t occur to her to tuck the glove into her other glove.
After all, when George Clooney is standing so close by, she said, “You do not think!”
Even if she lost the glove, she was still excited to see Clooney.
“He’s the nicest guy,” she said. “He’s so witty.”
The lady from Charleston was nice, too. Lowrance sure would like to get in touch with her to get her glove back.
“It’s not something that’s easily replaced,” Lowrance said. “We could make another, but it won’t be the same.”
