Deadline is April 11 to register for May 6 primary voting

Rowan County residents who want to vote in the May 6 primary and aren’t registered must do so by April 11.
County Elections Director Nancy Evans also pointed out that a registered voter who has move to a new precinct must change their address by April 11.
The Elections Office has voter registration forms available. The forms must be postmarked by April 11 to be valid for the primary. The forms may be picked up at the Elections Office at 130 W. Innes St. or at any county library.
Other important dates:
– Absentee ballot applications will be available beginning March 17. The deadline for applying for an absentee ballot is April 29 at 5 p.m.
An immediate relative may many an application for a ballot to be sent to a voter who is out of town, such as a college student, or a voter who i confined to the home and can’t get to the polls on election day.
– No excuse one-stop absentee voting starts Thursday April 17 and continues through May 3.
