Cabarrus Meals on Wheels: Mayors and More March 19

CONCORD ó Cabarrus Meals On Wheels will observe Mayors and More for Meals Day on March 19 as part of the nationwide March For Meals campaign.
Mayors Scott Padgett, John Crump and Troy Barnhardt will be participating in the event along with County Commissioners Jay White, Joni Juba and Grace Mynatt. State House Representative Linda Johnson will also join in helping deliver for Cabarrus Meals on Wheels.
The Cabarrus Meals On Wheels’ Mayors and More For Meals Day event includes community leaders delivering meals to senior citizens.
“We are excited about having our community leaders participate in our event,” said Kimberly Strong, executive director. “We hope to raise awareness of senior hunger in our community.”
March For Meals is a national campaign to raise awareness of senior hunger and to encourage action on the part of the local community.
Cabarrus Meals On Wheels serves 315 elderly and disabled homebound residents of the county. Almost 700 volunteers deliver on 24 routes.
In 2007, Meals on Wheels volunteers delivered 66,000 meals delivered throughout Cabarrus County.
