KANNAPOLIS ó U.S. Rep. Howard Coble took a peek inside the Core Lab Wednesday after meeting with Rowan-Cabarrus ABC officials at the N.C. Research Campus.
Lynne Scott Safrit, president of campus developer Castle & Cooke, took Coble and his contingent on a tour of the lab, which is scheduled to open this summer. A group from Duke University, which will conduct a landmark medical study at the Research Campus, joined the tour.
Coble was in town to meet with Terry Osborne, general manager of Rowan-Cabarrus ABC, and members of the ABC board.
He later visited Chief Mike Zimmerman and firefighters from Bostian Heights Station 41, who recently received a $28,452 federal grant.
Coble checked out fire and safety equipment and a tanker truck that the fire department purchased with previous federal funding.
