It’s not too late ó you can still attend the Table Tops Luncheon today at the Salisbury Station, says Lynda Errante of the Historic Salisbury Foundation.
The 12th annual fundraising luncheon starts at noon, with doors opening at 11:30. The cost is $30 for foundation members and $35 for non-members.
Table designers have created 19 clever and eye-catching tables, from elegant to whimsical.
Bigger was better for designers Tracy McMillin, Lori Burke and Lauren Hartpence, who used several large suits of armor for their manly “Knights of the Round Table” themed table.
Another handsome, masculine table is “Audubon’s Aviary” by Alisa Palmer and Gail Williams, which features a stuffed pheasant, National Audubon Society china and rich fall colors.
The store Peekaboo used a baby shower theme for its table, which is dominated by a large stork. Each plate features a table napkin that is truly a nappy ó a cloth diaper with a large safety pin forming a silverware pocket.
Raemi Evans’ “Harmony is Golden” table is a tribute to her grandfather, Dr. J.E.K. Aggrey. A small placard quoting him is perched on the piano that graces the table: “You can play a tune of sorts on the white keys and you can play a tune of sorts on the black keys, but for harmony, you must use both the black and white.” The glossy black piano is set off with elegant gold-rimmed china, gold flatware and black and white linens.
Designer Chad Morgan, with his mother, Hilda, continued his tradition of over-the-top tables with a “Romantic Rococo” theme, featuring a golden pageboy.
The Stitchin’ Post used a recycling theme for its “Life is Good When You Go Green” table, which features Frisbees as plates, reusable silverware, and placemats made out of recycled Salisbury Post pages.
