Help support wild turkey conservation by attending the Hunting Heritage Super Fund Auction and Dinner, hosted by the Rowan County Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation at 6 p.m. Feb. 8, at the F&M Trolley Barn.
Ticket holders will be eligible to win prizes, and the highest bidder will go home with sporting art, hunting guns, knives, calls, outdoor equipment and more.
Tickets are $45 each at the door or $70 per couple, which includes membership to the National Wild Turkey Federation. Membership helps support wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands and preserve hunting as a traditional North American sport.
In 1973, when the NWTF was founded, there were an estimated 1.3 million wild turkeys and 1.5 million turkey hunters. Today, more than 7 million wild turkeys roam North America and almost 3 million hunters enjoy the sport. Since 1985, the federation and others have spent more than $258 million upholding hunting traditions and conserving more than 13.1 million acres of wildlife habitat.
