Holiday memorial wreaths donated by Worcester Wreath Co. of Maine will be placed during a special ceremony at more than 350 state and national cemeteries across the country Saturday at noon.
In Salisbury, seven wreaths will be placed at the old National Cemetery on Military Avenue.
Each wreath will represent a branch of service ó Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Coast Guard, Merchant Marines and MIA.
The Civil Air Patrol, with the assistance of the Rowan Military Honor Guard, the Rowan Veterans Council and Girl Scouts will conduct the Salisbury ceremonies and placement of the wreaths.
The ceremonies will begin at the same time, noon, at all locations across the country.
Civil Air Patrol cadets will serve as the color guard and wreath bearers. The Rowan Military Honor Guard will fire a rifle salute and sound “Taps.”
Congressmen and state representatives have been invited, and some have agreed to speak.
The goal is to expand the recognition of those who serve our country, both past, present and future, as well as their families, who deserve everyone’s support.
The public is invited to join in honoring serving and fallen heroes.
