ROCKWELL ó Nazareth Children’s Home will be receiving $1,266 from Bi-Lo Charities to support its efforts in serving children and families throughout North Carolina. This year, the Bi-Lo Charity Classic celebrated its 25th anniversary and raised a record-breaking $5.6 million. Nazareth was one of several organizations chosen as a beneficiary because of its efforts to make the community a better place.
The children’s home plans to use the funding to ensure that every essential need is met this Christmas for each of the 84 children now calling Nazareth home.
Carol Browning, director of Bi-Lo Charities said, “We are proud to be a part of the Charity Classic tournament, which gives us the ability to support some of the most vital organizations in our community, and we are honored to award grants to organizations like Nazareth Children’s Home, which has changed so many lives for the better.”
The Bi-Lo Charity Classic has raised more than $45 million for charities since it was initiated in 1984. The Charity Classic was originally founded as a fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and has expanded to fund nearly 500 charities each year throughout Bi-Lo’s four-state region of South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee and Georgia.
Bi-Lo Charities Inc. was formed in 1998 to manage BI-LO’s extensive charitable giving initiatives, including the annual Bi-Lo Charity Classic golf tournament. Headquartered in Mauldin, S.C., Bi-Lo operates more than 220 supermarkets in the Carolinas, Georgia and Tennessee and employs approximately 17,000 people.
