A Salisbury man faces several charges after a hit-and-run accident Tuesday night.
Torrence Jerome Bond, 52, of 924 W. Horah St., tried to turn left from Innes Street onto Shaver Street around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday, Salisbury Police Chief Mark Wilhelm said.Bond failed to yield to an oncoming car, and the 2000 Volvo he was driving was struck by a 1995 Mazda sedan traveling west on Innes Street, Wilhelm said.
Ebonee Linette Harris, 20, was driving the Mazda, he said.
Bond drove away after the cars collided, Wilhelm said. Police spotted his vehicle on South Shaver Street, and a chase ensued.
“The driver was caught and taken into custody,” Wilhelm said.
Police caught up with Bond in the 1000 block of W. Horah St., he said.
Authorities charged Bond with driving while impaired, driving without insurance, speeding to elude arrest and driving with a revoked license.
Harris had two passengers in her car, and one was taken to the hospital, Wilhelm said.
No one else was in Bond’s car.
