National FFA winner
William Garrett Owen won the national FFA floriculture-entrepreneurship/placement proficiency award at the Oct. 22-25 Future Farmers of America convention in Indianapolis.
Owen, a member of West Rowan High School’s FFA chapter, was one of only four people chosen to compete for the national award.
Four other West Rowan chapter members were also one of only four people chosen to compete in other contests at the convention.
Lori Beth Fraley competed in agricultural sales/placement; Ryan A. Sloop in dairy production/placement; Ainsely Rae Alessandrini in equine science/entrepreneurship; and Joseph Ryan Newton in forest management and products/ entrepreneurship/placement.
