Staff report
The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man who robbed a convenience store at gunpoint this weekend.
A man who witnessed the robbery said the suspect, who appeared to be Hispanic, went into Pine Ridge General Store, 3510 Stokes Ferry Road, armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun around 7:45 p.m.Friday.
Witnesses further described the suspect as a short man between 25 and 35 years old.
Surveillance photos show the suspect wearing a plaid, short-sleeved shirt. He has tattoos on both forearms.
The man arrived at the store and left in a gold-colored, four-door car that appeared to be a 1990s Buick or Oldsmobile.
He appeared to have been a passenger in the car, which was operated by another man wearing a white, short-sleeved shirt.
The suspect’s car came from the direction of Salisbury and left traveling away from Salisbury toward Dunn’s Mountain Road.
The man may be the same suspect caught on video in late August breaking into Hogan’s Grocery & Grill on Airport Road, authorities said. In that incident, a man used a concrete parking-lot car stop to break into the store.
