Man shot in face in East Spencer

EAST SPENCER ó A man was taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center Monday night after being shot in the face.
The shooting was reported to the Rowan 911 Center at 8:10 p.m. by someone on a cell phone. The caller told emergency dispatchers that the victim was “bleeding pretty badly,” according to emergency communications radio traffic.
The victim was reportedly transported to the medical center by private vehicle after someone first called for emergency medical responders.
According to emergency radio communications, East Spencer police were looking for two male suspects who left the scene on foot. The victim is believed to have known the shooter but resisted telling officers the man’s identity, authorities at the scene communicated to county dispatchers.
East Spencer’s acting police chief, Lt. J.R. Schmierer, did not return a telephone message.
