Kannapolis ó On Tuesday, two experts from the State Energy Office will teach the final Environmental Stewardship Commission class here.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Larry Shirley and Len Hoey will give a presentation on energy conservation. Shirley, the director of the State Energy Office, and Hoey, the director of the Utility Savings Initiative, will share simple things individuals can do in the home and office to reduce monthly cooling and heating bills. The class will be held at the old Cabarrus Bank building, 201 West Ave. in Kannapolis.
“Energy conservation is an important issue, and I’m excited that Larry and Len are joining us for our final ESC class this month,” said Kannapolis Community Outreach Coordinator Renee Goodnight. “The interest from the community for the classes has been outstanding, and I look forward to watching the role of the Environmental Stewardship Commission grow over time.”
Lowe’s Home Improvement on Dale Earnhardt Boulevard is also supporting the class, and will donate 80 compact fluorescent light bulbs to give to those attending.
“I am thrilled Lowe’s is joining our efforts,” said Goodnight. “Support from the business community helps us as we work to establish the role of the commission.”
