Staff report
A Mooresville man has been charged in the theft of lottery tickets from a Bringle Ferry Road convenience store.
An investigator spotted the suspect’s vehicle at the Rowan County Detention Center, leading to the arrest.
The Rowan Sheriff’s Office has charged Andrew Irvin Jordan, 33, of 1276 Wilkinson Road, with breaking and entering and felony larceny.
Jordan is being held in the Alexander County Jail in Taylorsville on charges of breaking into a convenience store.
For several weeks, investigators attempted to find the man who stole 150 lottery tickets in an Oct. 11 break-in at Bringle Ferry Road.
Some of the winning tickets were subsequently turned in for cash at other stores.
Investigators released photos of the suspect cashing in the tickets and another photo of a dark-colored Ford extended cab seen at the break-in.
Capt. John Sifford said help from the public and the investigator’s spotting the Ford truck at the Rowan County Justice Center combined to result in the arrest.
Sifford said the truck was being driven by Jordan’s girlfriend.
