Pet Dairy says it is recruiting additional farmers to supply milk directly to its plant in Spartanburg, S.C.
The company will be hosting a meeting for interested farmers in the area at noon Monday at the Boxcar Grille, 3103 Taylorsville Highway, Statesville.
A complimentary lunch will be served, and farmers are welcome to bring members of their family.
The recruitment program, called Dairy Direct, allows Pet to build stronger business relationships with local dairy farmers, while gaining more information about the farms and cows behind the Pet brand.
“Interest in the Dairy Direct program has been very strong so far,” said Ronnie Rider, milk supply manager. “We want to be sure farmers who are interested in this program don’t miss out on this opportunity.”
“We already source milk from many farmers who supply directly to us versus through a third party cooperative or service,” Rider said “Farmers who are part of our Dairy Direct program receive a competitive price, a local home for their milk and the chance to have a business relationship with an organization committed to growth and innovation.”
In addition, the company says direct sourcing further strengthens the quality and security of its milk supply. This helps satisfy increasing consumer demand to know where food comes from.
“As a leading local dairy, our No. 1 priority is producing the most wholesome and safe milk products for moms and families.,” Pet Plant Manager Joe Hogan said. “We want to be sure it is the very best and we believe local farmers are key to this.”
Interested farmers should register to attend the meeting by calling 866-313-9473, or can visit www.PETDairyDirect.com for more information.
