Several students at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) have been recognized in the 2009 National Merit Scholarship Program and National Achievement Scholarship Program, according to Dean Jill Lane of UNCSA High School Academic Program.
Two area high school seniors at UNCSA have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
– Christian T. Covington of Clemmons, studying in the School of Music;
– Carlie H. Herron of Mooresville, studying in the School of Music.
Although Commended Students do not continue in the competition for Merit Scholarships, they do receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.
