A pair of disturbances on two local high school campuses resulted in the arrests of three students Tuesday.

The first of those disturbances took place at North Rowan High where Kiara La Shay Bost, 17, of 919 N. Long St., East Spencer, and Shaniqua Monique Land, 16, of 509 Welder St., East Spencer, were charged with resisting a public officer and disorderly conduct.

Land was also charged with assault on a government official or employee, accused of pushing Spencer Police Chief Robert Bennett in the chest with both hands and scratching Bennett on his left hand.

According to warrants filed in the Rowan County Magistrate’s Office, Land is accused of yelling at school administrators and refusing to obey instructions. She is also accused of pulling away from an officer while he was placing her in handcuffs.

According to warrants, Bost is accused of refusing a lawful order to calm down, and also refusing to cease cursing and yelling. Bost is also accused of refusing to be taken into custody by pulling away from an officer and refusing to be cuffed after being placed under arrest.

In a separate incident that occurred at Salisbury High, Wesley Woods, 17, of 817 S. Ellis St., Salisbury, was accused of assault on a government official or employee.

According to arrest warrants, Woods was walking past Salisbury Police Officer K.C. Puranda when he threw a shoulder into the officer. Puranda was responding to the report of a fight at the school.

All of the students were released to the custody of their parents after signing a written promise to appear in court.
