The Rape, Child and Family Abuse Crisis Council of Salisbury, locally know as Family Crisis Council of Rowan County, a United Way Agency, has received $3,000 for the Individual Counseling Program for 2014. This grant was made possible through the generosity of the Salisbury Community Foundation.
The purpose of Family Crisis Council is to help empower victims of rape, sexual assault, incest and domestic violence take back their lives. This is done through shelter, advocacy, information, referrals and counseling. In the past three years, 613 women and children have received safe shelter and a total of 8,343 were seen in all programs.
The Salisbury Community Foundation is dedicated to inspiring philanthropy in the Salisbury/Rowan County area. The foundation has a permanent endowment established in 1944 by local leaders to benefit a board range of charitable purposes. The foundation helps individuals and families address their philanthropic needs through charitable giving services; helps local nonprofits secure the future through endowments and establishment of charitable giving programs; and addresses a broad range of changing local needs through a grant making program.
