Livingstone’s men’s basketball team endured another cold shooting night and fell 67-58 at Virginia State on Saturday night in Ettrick, Va.
Livingstone shot 4-for-22 on 3-pointers.
The Blue Bears (10-4, 3-2 CIAA) shot 36.7 percent for the game and just 29.4 percent in the second half as the Trojans rallied from a 33-28 halftime deficit.
High-scoring LC guards Mark Thomas and Jody Hill combined for only 13 points. They average 40. Thomas had six assists and five steals but also committed an uncharacteristic five turnovers.
Emarri Bailey came off the bench for the Blue Bears and scored 13 points on 5-for-10 shooting. Eric Mayo jumped off the bench to grab eight rebounds.
Livingstone led by seven points early in the second half, but Virginia State had a 9-0 run and took control.
Chris Grier led Virginia State (8-7, 1-4) with 13 points. The Trojans shot 40.7 percent and outrebounded the Blue Bears 46-33.

Livingstone’s women’s basketball team lost 63-49 at Virginia State on Saturday.
Cierra York scored 18 points for the Blue Bears (8-7, 3-2 CIAA). Taylor Daniels had 13 rebounds.
Jessica Lyons scored 13 to lead the Trojans (12-1, 3-1).
Livingstone shot 5-for-30 in the first half and dug a 25-19 halftime hole.
The Blue Bears were more accurate in the second half but still finished at 25.9 percent from the field.

Pfeiffer’s men’s basketball team won 106-99 in overtime against Lees-McRae in Banner Elk on Saturday.
David McNair had a career game for the Falcons with 23 points and 18 rebounds. Mike Smith scored 28 points to lead the Falcons (4-10, 1-4 Conference Carolinas) in scoring for the 14th straight game.
A.J. Clark went 14-for-15 from the foul line and scored 24 points.
Andrew Guerrero hit a 3-pointer to send the game to overtime.
Former Concord star Jacquise Moore scored 18 for Lees-McRae (6-8, 1-3).
Pfeiffer’s women’s basketball team lost 57-53 at Lees-McRae on Saturday.
Alexis Stallard scored 18 for the Falcons (2-11, 1-4 Conference Carolinas). Amy Steller (Davie) had eight rebounds.
Former Catawba Indian Lauren Lewis led the Bobcats (6-3, 3-2) with 14 points.
Catawba’s women’s basketball team lost 71-66 at Brevard on Saturday.
Catawba (7-5, 5-3 SAC) fell behind by as many as 12 points in the first half, trailed by nine at the break and dropped its second straight SAC game.
Mallary Clay led the Indians with 17 points. Antoinette McPhail had 16 points and seven rebounds. Chloe Bully had 14 points and seven assists.
Catawba climbed back even with Brevard (4-8, 3-5) in the second half but was unable to take the lead.
Brevard was good at the foul line late (7-for-8) and pulled out the victory.
Katie Williams scored 20 for the Tornados.
Brevard outscored the Indians 16-4 at the foul line and shot 9-for-16 on 3s.
Catawba plays at Coker on Wednesday and travels to Mars Hill next Saturday.
The next home action is on Jan. 22 against Wingate.

• In the Boneyard Bash tournament hosted by Fayetteville Jack Britt, South Rowan’s Logan Durham was champion at 106 pounds on Saturday. South’s Angel Ruiz was runner-up, and Tyler Hall placed third.
• East Rowan won 55-18 against Central Cabarrus in SPC wrestling to stay unbeaten.Sam Cornacchione, Jeff Burrell, Dustin Humphrey, Max Wall and Shiheem Saunders had pins for East (4-0 SPC).
Logan Haas, Luke Miller and David Austin Hoosier claimed forfeits. Wesley Porter took a major decision, and Jake Boltz won a decision.

Marvin Scruggs, a first-year wrestler and East’s backup at 220, went 2-2 and registered a pin.
A.L. Brown’s boys lost to Mallard Creek 58-47 on Friday in a MECKA game and fell to 1-4 in the league.
David Tripp led the Wonders with 10 points. Joekeem Neal had nine, and Kyrell Williams scored seven.
