North Hills offers information for parents, students

North Hills Christian School (NHCS) will present a series of admissions events in January, February and March to kick off enrollment for the 2014-2015 school year. Families and community members are welcome to attend.
The first series of events are titled “What to Expect When ….” These events will include a presentation about specific programs at the school and a classroom visit so that parents may meet the teachers and view the curriculum and instruction materials.
The events are scheduled as follows: “What to Expect in 4K & 5K” will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 6:30 p.m. The event begins in the media center with a presentation about the importance of choosing a high quality junior kindergarten and kindergarten program and why it is a good investment. Visitors will learn more about the 4K and 5K phonics-based language arts program, tiered-instruction for reading and math, and biblical integration.
“What to Expect in Middle School” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the media center. Details of the school’s middle school program will be presented, including information about the classical curriculum, offerings for fine arts, Latin and Spanish electives, and the middle school honors and college prep track.
“What to Expect in High School” will be held on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7:15 p.m. in the media center. Details of the school’s high school program will be presented and will include information about the school’s tablet PC program, classical curriculum, comprehensive list of course offerings, Advanced Placement, honors, dual credit courses and more. Information about the Honors Academy at North Hills Christian School for academically gifted high school students will also be available.
Shadow Days provide both parents and students an opportunity to learn more about the school and an option to experience a typical day at NHCS by following a current NHCS student to classes for part of the morning. Reservations are required to shadow one week prior to the event. Shadow Days are scheduled as follows: Shadow Day for parents and rising students in 4K-eighth grade will be held Monday, Feb. 6, from 9-11:30 a.m.; Shadow Day for parents and rising students in ninth-12th grades will be held Tuesday, Feb. 7, from 9-11:30 a.m.; a Shadow Day for all grades is scheduled for Thursday, March 13, from 9-11:30 a.m.

North Hills is a co-educational, non-denominational, Christian day school. The school has a total student enrollment of 295 students in grades 4K through high school. Applications for admission are being accepted for the 2014-2015 school year. North Hills offers several different tracks including college prep, a career track, and a program to assist students with learning differences. Courses are biblically integrated. North Hills is led by Maria Lowder, executive director, and Leslie Pullen, dean of academics.
