As a testament to members enthusiasm, Cub Scout Pack 306 was recently awarded the Cub Cup for 2013, an honor recognizing the highest level of involvement of a Cub Scout Pack. In addition, Dee Ann Vincent was honored at the banquet as Den Leader of the year. The honors were presented Feb. 7 at the annual Rowan District Leaders’ Banquet.
The present Cub Scout Pack 306 came into existence in September 2008 and has been blessed with enthusiastic Cub Scouts, willing and involved adult leaders and progressive growth. Participation in Rowan District and Central North Carolina Council events has been a staple of their event calendar over the years.
Adult leaders have played an integral part in planning and staffing the events. Among those events have been many week-long Rowan District Cub Scout Day Camps, Webelos Residence Camp, and Outdoor Games and Gold Rush at Camp Barnhardt. They have also participated in the Veterans Day parade and the Holiday Caravan, in which they were awarded third place “Non-Professional, Non-Business Float.”
Pack 306 is the second pack in the county to be awarded the Cub Cup. Cub Cup criteria is based on various areas in scouting, such as fundraising, community service, leader training and assistance, event participation, extensive outdoor activities and pack retention and growth.
