Fire officials say they have not determined the cause of a weekend fire that started inside a clothes dryer at a Salisbury laundromat.
The fire occurred Saturday around 12:30 p.m. at Campbell’s Coin Laundry, 724 West Jake Alexander Blvd. It caused light smoke damage inside Savage Tans, located next door.
Fire Marshal Terry Smith said clothing inside the dryer caught fire while the dryer was running. There was heat and smoke damage to the stacked dryer, the wall and the ceiling. Smith said owner John Leatherman estimated the damage to the dryers at $7,000 and Smith estimated damage to the wall and ceiling at $1,000.
Firefighters were able to put out the flames with a fire extinguisher. No injuries were reported.
